Parke Puterbaugh has been writing about music for 40 years and been published in three dozen magazines and newspapers. He is a former senior editor at Rolling Stone and has contributed exhibit copy-writing, inductee biographies and other forms of writing to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame since its inception. Puterbaugh has taught courses on the history of rock and popular music at Guilford College for the past 15 years. Currently he is working on his tenth book, a study of the subculture of beach music and shag dancing in the Southeast.
