Sextile, who formed in L.A. in 2014, could be considered a “Post Punk / Dangerous Pop” band. While the band do not identify with any particular scene, Sextile’s debut,  A Thousand Hands conjures images of dystopian decay, societal collapse and darkness at the end of the world. Their music, while sounding alive and quite their own, most closely resembles or perhaps pays homage to the darker late 80’s Manchester Scene .

The bands influences are just as eclectic. They range between the primal, tom heavy drum patterns of Moe Tucker’s Velvet Underground sound or perhaps a hint of Death in June and even the dark rhythmic soundscapes of post Bauhaus outfit Tones on Tail. Add in a dash of Throbbing Gristle and early Mute records and you get closer to the band’s idea of a sound .

The band embarked on their first tour earlier this summer.

A Thousand Hands is released on Felte Records (who are also home to the KVB and White Hex) .

With an alliance formed with Part Time Punks and its curator Michael Stock, the band will be playing a PTP’s few shows in Los Angeles:

-August 27th @ Non Plus Ultra with Terminal A

-September 22nd @ The Regent with ChameleonsVox
