THE MOMENT JAMES OSTERBERG BECAME IGGY POP

Iggy Pop talks about getting his inspiration from the Blues – “You could play your own blues”

Here’s a clip from the Please Kill Me Audio Archives of Iggy Pop talking about his time spent living in Chicago, hanging out with “old blues guys.” Iggy found them and their style so natural, it would be foolish to try to imitate. Then he had an epiphany – he could play his own blues!

“I thought, What you gotta do is play your own simple blues. I could describe my experience based on the way those guys are describing theirs . . .” – Iggy Pop
