Blank City makes you stumble over the rubble filled blocks of 70’s New York City while you’re checking to see if your wallet is still in your back pocket. Young artists like Nick Zedd, Richard Kern and Jim Jarmusch bought 8mm cameras and filmed their pals without permits or rules – gorilla style. No Wave represented the musicians, performance artists and filmmakers who kept their punk ethos and rejected societies labels of their art. Black humor was thrown into the mix by the twenty somethings that were making these films, validating the cities bankrupt, drug addled rut.
