The song “Rock Lobster,” was written by vocalist Fred Schneider and guitarist Ricky Wilson. The B52’s self titled album featured the long version of this song and was released in 1979. Check out this wacky video for the song, complete with Fred donning harem pants and Kate Pierson in a beehive wig. The multi-colored dancing lobsters interrupted by vintage clips of people dancing from the 20’s makes this video a zany treat. Thank god for these weirdos from Athens, Georgia. I’ve always felt like The B52’s are children’s music for adults on acid.
