Saul Leiter is one of my favorite photographers. The Hound and I saw a show of his work in Paris and we both flipped. He is considered one of the Godfathers of modern color photography. He passed away in 2013. Below is a small sampling of his work. – Gillian McCain
This is classic Leiter. Reflections upon reflections… mirrors… words… blur… patterns… debris
Spying through scaffolding. Hats… cars… glimpses of red.
Neon… rain… blurred words… gloam.
Lots of umbrellas. Often red.
Barely in the picture.
A hint of a person.
He likes construction… and abstraction…. usually due to precipitation.
Rain… snow…. glass… scurrying homo sapiens…
Men at work…
.
Another sneaky peak men in motion, newspapers tucked under arms.
A Mad Man, distracted…
The woman who brought the Mad Man coffee this morning.
The gentleman who cuts his hair…
The stray dog he may or may not bring home to his daughter tonight…
