“CBGB in 70’s” on You Tube

Live shots of Blondie, The Dead Boys, and The Ramones are featured in this late 70’s CBGB’s documentary. Even though the commentator has a strange, infomercial voice and the speed is slightly off, the rare footage is intriguing enough to keep watching. The very articulate Ramones manager, Danny Fields describes them as “a great machine that went on time.”

  2. Tony, it’s from that thing they call a movie. A badly done movie at that. I think the only thing they got even remotely accurate is Dee Dee Ramone’s cheekbones?

  3. Having grown up with John Genzale and Ramones I lived in the LOWER EAST SIDE for 30 years and WHATEVER your people who read about the ERA and then reply about it really should talk to someone who was there….. not rumor;s ya heard about it.
    John was a good friend, who gave all he had on STAGE and when on the STREETS, This CRAP MOVIE and quotes by people Like R HELL are just WRONG….
    Funny ya never have a quote from anyone who is NOT trying to make money off the DIRT they spew on their supposed friends.
    This movies SUCKED and is a LIE as to what HILLY CRYSTAL did to help so many of us have a career.
    Funny I never see ya have is a quote from someone whose alive and NOT STARVING FOR MONEY…..PLEASE get something right.

    I owe my career to Hilly Crystal… and friends like John Genzale, Debbie Harry, Tom Verlaine, Stiv Bators, Johhny, Joey, Dee Dee n yes Tommy Ramone and of course the late Willy DeVille.

    PLEASE PLEASE pay some respect to those passed who helped create the BIGGEST MOVEMENT in ROCK N ROLL since the BRitish Invasion

  4. I GREW UP WITH JOHN GENZALE, RAMONES NMOST OF THE BANDS WHO PLAYED CBGB;S.
    I AM SO HAPPY TO SEE SOMEONE OTHER THAN ME STICK UP FOR THOSE PASSED WHO HELPED CREATE THE BIGGEST MOVEMENT SINCE THE BRITISH INVASION.
    HILLY CRYSTAL WAS A FATHER , FRIEND, AND IS THE REASON I GOT TO BE A MUSICIAN ALONG WITH THE HELP OF FRIENDS WHO ARE NO LONGER WITH US.
    PLEASE STOP SPEWING GARBAGE FROM THE MOUTHS OF THSE NOT THERE LIKE THE MOVIE;S PRODUCER WHO WAS NOT EVEN IN DIAPERS WHEN WE WERE ON STAGE GIVING IT OUR ALL

    THIS WAS THE BEST TIME OF MY LIFE AND I AM LUCKY TO BE ALIVE AND BE ABLE TO TALK ABOUT IT….. MY MUSIC HAS GONE FROM PUNK TO ANGRY BLUES….SAME THING IMO.

    BUT I OWE IT ALL TO HILLY AND THOSE FRIENDS WHO OPENED DOORS I COULD NOT. THANK TO HILLY AND EVERY BAND WHO GAVE IT THERE ALL ON THE STAGE ON THE FINEST CLUB NYC HAS EVER HAD…..
